2016 CES (Consumer
Electronics Show) has been officially opened, in this show, BMW brought i8
Mirrorless concept car with new digital rearview mirror technology, Mirrorless
means without mirror.
Exterior mirrors
on both sides of the BMW i8 Mirrorless concept car was replaced by two cameras,
due to the volume is smaller, so it has better aerodynamic design. And on the
top edge of the rear windshield, the car is equipped with the third camera.
These three high-definition cameras to assume the functions of the traditional
automotive interior rear view mirror.
Inside, the
traditional interior rear view mirror was replaced by a high-resolution LCD
screen, something taken by the three cameras through synthesis, will eventually
be displayed on this LCD screen, it has larger rear view angles than the
traditional rear view mirror, and will not has many blind spots than the
traditional rear view mirror.
This system is not
only used to display, also with early warning function. The system will
automatically assess the captured image, speculated possible dangers and
alerts, such as displaying warning identification and so on. similar to the now
many high-end models with lane change assist system warning, but we believe
this system may be more powerful in function.
i8 Mirrorless
concept car shows technologies may be more higher, and the Extended Rearview
Mirror technology based on BMW i3 models will be more People First, it is not
canceled outside mirrors, only in the roof install a high-definition camera,
the inside rear view mirror instead of a LCD screen, to display the footage by
roof camera. This technology is combination of i8 Mirrorless technology and
traditional rear view mirror, we believe that is more easier to realization and
popularization.
In test, the new
BMW i8 Mirrorless concept car can still use BMW ICOM series diagnostic tool to diagnosis all the
system. BMW ICOM A2 is the best car diagnostic tool for diagnosing and
programming BMW group vehicles including BMW, MINI,ROLLS-ROYCE and motorbike.
The latest BMW ISTA software for BMW ICOM is V12.2015 build in WIN7 32 bit
system support multiple languages in ISTA-D, ISTA-P and Diagram circle. It is
native software with BMW Engineer tools such as E-sys, Inpa, Ediabas, NCS and
so on, easy to be used, you just need insert it into laptop and press POWER
button.
